2008 EARTH DAY FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS
Glowing reviews from last year’s inaugural event didn’t stop CCVT from having visitors’ expectations exceeded. The venue moved to Santa Margarita Ranch, affording more space, privacy and a historic rural setting fitting of an Earth Day celebration.
"We want to thank everyone involved in making the Earth Day Food & Wine Festival such a success." said Kris O’Connor, Executive Director of the Central Coast Vineyard Team. "This year’s event helped us raise $40,000 for sustainable agriculture and farmworker outreach programs conducted by CCVT."
This year, CCVT doubled every aspect of the Earth Day Food & Wine Festival—ticketholders, wineries, chefs, producers, exhibitors, sponsors—truly an amazing feat by a small grower group that typically does farmer outreach.
Clearly, there is community interest and appreciation in sustainable foods, wines, and products, and we are very pleased that we could successfully connect like-minded consumers and producers. And this is proven by the 800 people who crossed the event gates on April 19, 2008.
Event proceeds support sustainable agriculture research and farmworker outreach programs conducted by the Central Coast Vineyard Team (CCVT), a local 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
