A Message from David - Aspiring Winery Owner
The Juan Nevarez Memorial Scholarship bridges the equity gap in higher education by serving the students of farm-working families, helping students like David.
With his parents still in Mexico, David is responsible for his education and finances. He works after school to help cover the household expenses he shares with his brother.
Work did not prevent David from excelling in high school. He consistently maintained a high GPA while working to support his and his brother’s livelihood.
Because English is his second language, David understands the challenge of language barriers. To help other students like him learn English, he worked as a teaching assistant.
Since graduating from Paso Robles High School in 2024, David’s excitement to study viticulture at Cuesta College has only grown.
He plans to complete his general education and then transfer to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with the ambition of working in a winery… and maybe owning his own one day!
David asked us to share this message with you:
“I want to express my sincere gratitude for selecting me as a scholarship recipient. I am deeply honored by the trust you have placed in me and by the opportunity you have given me to advance my studies and professional goals. I assure you that I will make every effort to live up to expectations and contribute positively to our community.”
Help more students like David by giving a gift today.
In partnership with Must! Charities.
